HIV Dynamics and Evolution Workshop
This is the premier annual meeting for those working on evolution and variation of HIV and other human viruses and their dynamics, and evolution, both within and between hosts. Information about the regular meeting series can be found here.
This year was the second occasion on which we organised the HIV Dynamics and Evolution meeting (1997 in Edinburgh was the previous occasion; ALB also organised it in 2002, at Lake Arrowhead, California, when on sabbatical at UCSD). It was hosted at Sabhal Mor Ostaig on the Isle of Skye which provided a splendid venue for the conference. A total of 87 delegates managed the logistics of travel to the Hebrides from as far afield as South Africa, San Diego and Kazakhstan and enjoyed an excellent conference and a ceilidh led by the Dun Mor ceilidh band. "The most fun I have ever had at a conference.." was heard from one delegate at its conclusion. A selection of photographs and videos can be seen below and here, which reveal that the biggest attraction was Skye itself, 18 hours of unbroken sunshine on both Thursday and Friday and the Sound of Sleat which provided the background to the discussions.
